Gender is a social aspect of relations between men and women that is manifested in all spheres of society’s life and activities, including politics, economy, law, ideology and culture, education and science.
The concept of gender equality means equal rights and opportunities of women and men in all spheres of society’s life and activities, including politics, economy, law, culture, education, science, and sports.

The equal participation of women and men in the competition for leadership positions in the civil service is guaranteed by the legislation of Uzbekistan.
- Personnel services of state bodies are obliged to provide information on the ratio of the number of women and men working in the relevant positions of the state service.
- Both mother and father have the right to paid maternity leave. The duration of parental leave can be divided between the parents at their discretion, in which case the parent can use the leave in parts.
- If a person believes that he/she has been subjected to direct or indirect discrimination based on gender, he/she has the right to appeal to the competent authorities or the court. In this case, the state duty will not be collected from the person who was subjected to direct or indirect discrimination on the basis of gender.
